Dr Zeny Edwards
Mrs Zeny (Zenaida) EdwardsAs a committed member of the National Trust for 15 years, Zeny continues to work with passion for the conservation of historic heritage places in New South Wales. She has helped fund the Old Government House Soft Furnishings Program, and is currently funding the refurbishment of the Annie Wyatt Room and restoration work at Everglades. Exhibitions curated for the National Trust: ‘Heirloom Flowers, Fruit and Vegetables’ at Old Government House and ‘Sydney Past and Present’ in the Annie Wyatt Room. The Historic Buildings Committee projects include: the heritage survey of Mount Wilson and the Central Coast, and conservation work in the gardens of Eryldene, Tulkiyan and Wynstay. In July 2006 Zeny completed her doctoral research on the life and work of Sir John Sulman. Recipient of the National Trust Heritage Awards (four awards and two commendations), and the 2006 Mayor’s Centenary Award for Outstanding Community Service in Ku-ring-gai.

 

Professor John Niland AC

Having completed ten years as Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of New South Wales in July 2002, John Niland now serves on a number of corporate and community boards including the Centennial Parklands Trust, as Chairman; the Board of Trustees of Singapore Management University; the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong; and Macquarie Bank Limited (MBL). Earlier roles include Chief Executive of the State Pollution Control Commission and Chairman of the Environment Protection Authority. He has served on the Australian Universities Council, the TAFE Council of Australia, the Boards of St Vincent’s Hospital, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Foundation, and the Sydney Olympic bid’s Building Commission. He has also been a director of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, and the Australian Technology Park

 

Hon. Barry O'Keefe AM QC

The Hon Barry O'Keefe AM QC has been a Member of the National Trust for 40 years and was President from July 1991 to November 2006. His inspirational legacy will live on at the Trust for many years to come.
Mr O'Keefe was a Member of the Bar for 36 years, President of the Bar Council in 1990 and 1991 and was appointed as Chief Judge of the Commercial Division and an Additional Judge of Appeal of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1993. In November 1994 he was appointed Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (NSW) for the maximum statutory term of five years. On his retirement from that office he returned to the Supreme Court, where he sat in the Common Law Division, the Court of Criminal Appeal and the Court of Appeal as required. He retired from judicial office in 2004.
From 1968 until 1991 Mr O'Keefe was an Alderman on Mosman Council and was Mayor of Mosman for 10 years. He served on the Executive of the Local Government Association of New South Wales for 14 years and was President from 1986 to 1988. He remains a patron of the Association.
In 1998 Mr O'Keefe was appointed as an interim Trustee of the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust and on the incorporation of the Trust under the Sydney Harbour Federation Act 2001 (Cth) he was appointed as a Trustee, an office he still retains.
He was made a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia in January 1989 and in 2003 the Centenary Medal was conferred on him. He was appointed a Freeman of the City of London in 1991.

Mr O'Keefe has long associations with a number of environmental bodies, is interested in Australian native bushland, its conservation and regeneration and has for many years been a supporter of heritage projects.

Mr O'Keefe is married and has five adult children.
