Ku-ring-gai Town Centre’s Draft Local Environmental Plan
In its submission on the Ku-ring-gai Town Centre’s Draft Local Environmental Plan, the National Trust has expressed grave concern at the overdevelopment and consequent impacts on the Trust’s Urban Conservation Areas and the built and natural heritage of Ku-ring-gai if the planning scheme for the new town centres is approved.

Eveleigh Railway Workshops
A recent National Trust meeting with the Office of Rail Heritage has confirmed some significant progress in the Trust’s campaign to have the historic workshops, their collections and associated specialised traditional skills recognised and conserved.

Double Bay Former Stamford Plaza Hotel Redevelopment
A development proposal on the site of the former Stamford Plaza Hotel at Double Bay has been declared a Part 3(A) development by the State Government and has been taken out of Woollahra Council’s hands.

MCA Building Re-Development, Circular Quay
The Trust is liaising with the Museum of Contemporary Art in regard to the design of an extension at the northern end of the present building.

Kurnell Sand Mining
The National Trust had given evidence at a Land & Environment Court hearing into an extension of sand mining at Kurnell. Sand mining was intended by the NSW Government to be phased out by 2010. Recent media reports have claimed that sand mining on an adjoining site may be dredging beyond approved limits.

Hartley Valley Landscape
The National Trust and the Blue Mountains and Lithgow Regional Committees are examining proposals by the Roads and Traffic Authority to re-route the Great Western Highway between Mt Victoria and Lithgow.
