Brian Preston Corporate Breakfast
The third and final corporate breakfast for 2006 was a huge success. Over 150 guests at the Hotel Intercontinental heard an intriguing and informative talk by Justice Brian Preston, Chief Judge of the Land and Environment Court.
Justice Preston’s speech gave our audience an overview of the principles of ecologically sustainable development. Defining sustainable development as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”, Justice Preston expounded on 6 main principles that were needed to review and act upon environmental degradation to ensure that natural resources were still available and not exhausted in the future.
The issue of environmental sustainability has been key to the mission of the Trust since its inception, along with the need to protect our built and natural environments for our descendants.
