Festival of Children's Literature
12th and 13th April 2008
The 8th annual Norman Lindsay Festival of Children's Literature will once again be held within the grounds of the home of The Magic Pudding, the Norman Lindsay Gallery at Faulconbridge.
Come and hear different speakers talk about writing and illustrating for children at workshops and talks, meet the speakers during book signing sessions, enjoy the entertainment roving throughout the grounds or leisurely browse the stalls. Short Story Competition – for children aged 8-12
As part of the Festival of Children’s Literature the National Trust would like to invite students to submit a short story to be judged and awarded by children’s book
publisher, Mark Macleod.
The Short Story Competition
Your task is to write a Picture Book suitable for 5-8 year olds with the title ‘The Day the Dog Ate My Homework’.
Entrants should make sure their story:
• is no more than 1000 words
• uses words and ideas that make the writing interesting for readers
• shows that you have taken care with spelling, grammar and punctuation
• the story may be illustrated
• is all your own work
Judging and prizes
Finalists will be selected by a panel of Teachers and Librarians with the winner chosen by Mark Macleod, who will
present the award at the opening of the Festival on Saturday, 12th April at 1.30pm. The sponsor of the Festival,
Dymocks Booksellers, will provide the following prizes:
• $250 worth of books from Dymocks Booksellers for winner and the winner’s school
• $50 worth of books from Dymocks Booksellers for 2nd place
• $30 worth of books from Dymocks Booksellers for 3rd place
