Getting involved in 2007!

By registering your event with the National Trust Heritage Festival, your activity and organisation will be promoted free of charge via the Trust website and within the Festival Program,  35,000 of which are distributed to Trust members, event organisers and the general public through motor registries, councils, libraries, visitor information offices, National Trust properties and cultural organisations in February 2007.

Each year, event registrations are open until the beginning of December for the following year’s Festival which is held annually in April.  The deadline for the 2007 Heritage Festival events has now closed.

Event Theme - Places in Context - Natural and Cultural Landscapes

We will look at our evolving urban and rural landscapes and specifically explore the community interaction with particular places with reference to urban development, historical significance and what factors make up an area’s identity.  We may wish to question our occupation of the landscape, our use of green space and sustainability

Key concepts also include - social interaction, multiculturism, cultural of place, the shaping of the natural/cultural aspect of an area, cultural identity including cuisine and the built environment as well as landscapes as a link to industries eg agricultural, maritime and manufacturing and viticulture.

Interpretation of this theme may tie in with your community or organisation’s historical or ongoing function/activities within a particular culture or local industry, and specifically look at the people whose lives and contributions have shaped its heritage.

Event Management

Your event needs to be organised and staffed by you in a professional and safe manner. Some things to think about include;

Facilities, resources and support you may need – often local council or other community organisations may be willing to assist with your needs or may be interested in partnering with you for your planned event

Event budget

Ticketing/gold coin donation options

Additional support – unfortunately as a not-for-profit organisation, the National Trust is unable to assist in the funding of individual events staged for the Heritage Festival and recommends obtaining in-kind support where possible, sponsors and government grants.

Event publicity and marketing

• Wet weather and other contingency plans including a risk assessment

Insurance - Public Liability Insurance for your event should be covered under the insurance of the host organisation with a recommended minimum of $10 million cover for any one event.
