In 1874, Woodford Academy was chosen as a major observation station to view Venus transiting the Sun. After 130 years the Transit of Venus will again take place on Tuesday 8 June, 2004.

Bring your family and friends, astronomy experts and keen enthusiasts to view this year's Transit at 3.15 pm Tuesday 8 June through specially filtered lenses*. Bus available to Linden and Kings Tableland Observatory. Live entertainment, view the original Fairfax Telescope and its modern equivalent fitted with special filters, see exhibition display panels, enjoy heritage house tours of Woodford Academy, children's activities, face painting, stalls, great coffee and cakes and expert speakers' program.

Woodford Academy Entrance:
$5.00 per head, $10.00 Family, $4 Conc. $2.00 Child (to 12 years)
*All children must be supervised when viewing the telescopes or attending the Observatories. Looking directly at the sun will cause eye damage; view only through appropriate filtered lenses under supervision. Charges may apply and opening times cary at both Observatories.
